Your Content Library is invaluable and you probably spent a lot of time refining it. However, even when the content is correct, you may find the AI-generated response misses the mark and you need to take time to create the answer yourself.
Here at Responsive, we know your time is valuable and you can't spend it doing what AI should be doing. After reviewing a wide range of customer content libraries, we’ve noticed a few common patterns in how information is written and organized that can make it harder for AI to deliver accurate, helpful responses. The good news? These challenges are often easy to fix once you know what to look for.
Let's take a look at a brief overview of the seven best practices you can take to create your AI-ready content library:
- Avoid internal comments in responses
Remove any reviewer notes or editorial instructions from the answer content, as AI may surface them in responses - Avoid link-only responses
Answers should include all sufficient information in the content rather than pointing only to external documents, links, or attachments, so AI can generate complete responses. - Alternate questions must have identical intent
Alternate questions should be similar versions of the same question so it always maps to the exact same answer. - Clearly defined primary questions
Write specific, fully formed questions that reflect a single user intent so AI can retrieve correct, accurate answers. - Avoid multiple response headers for different topics
Keep each Q&A focused on one topic. If there is more than one, split unrelated topics into separate entries to prevent partial or irrelevant AI responses. - Use standardized response headers
Use consistent headers (such as Short Answer, Detailed Answer) to structure responses clearly and enable better filtering and retrieval. - Use metadata and custom fields
Tag and categorize content with metadata to provide context, helping AI return the most relevant answer for a given scenario.
By making a few improvements to how your content is designed, you can significantly boost both the accuracy of AI retrieval and the reliability of the responses it generates.
