I’m submitting this enhancement idea on behalf of our strategic enterprise client, Microsoft.
OverviewMicrosoft is requesting enhanced usability for video files stored in the Content Library by adding thumbnail preview support for video files in the Document Library. As video usage continues to grow, visual cues are critical to help users quickly identify and select the correct asset.
Current Challenge
- Video files uploaded to the Content Library’s Document Library do not currently display thumbnail previews, unlike our other document types.
- Without a visual representation, users must rely solely on file names and metadata to identify video content.
- This makes it difficult and time-consuming for users to locate the correct video, particularly in libraries with a large volume of assets.
- Many modern third-party content and asset management platforms already support video thumbnails, setting an expectation for similar functionality within Responsive.
Proposed Enhancement
- Add thumbnail preview support for video files stored in the Content Library’s Document Library.
- Generate and display a representative frame or preview image for each video asset.
- Ensure thumbnails are visible wherever Document Library assets are browsed or selected.
Expected Impact
- Improves discoverability and usability of video assets.
- Reduces time spent searching for the correct video files.
- Aligns Responsive’s Content Library experience with industry standards and user expectations.
- Supports Microsoft’s increasing reliance on video content for proposal and sales enablement workflows.
