I’m submitting this enhancement idea on behalf of our strategic client Jeppesen ForeFlight.
Overview
- Within Response Projects, Jeppesen ForeFlight would like Parent Sections containing Sub-Sections and associated sub-questions to display aggregated question progress directly at the Parent Section level.
- Proposal Managers and Project Managers need an efficient way to understand the total volume of questions within each Parent Section and quickly assess answer and review progress without expanding the underlying Sub-Sections.
- The Parent Section’s “Answered” and “Questions Reviewed” columns should summarize the totals and progress of all associated sub-questions.
Current Challenge
- Parent Sections currently display 0% in the “Answered” and “Questions Reviewed” columns even when questions within their Sub-Sections have been answered or reviewed.
- Users cannot determine from the Parent Section how many total questions are associated with it, how many have been answered, or how many have been reviewed.
- For example:
- Section 1 contains 6 total sub-questions, with 4 of 6 answered. The Parent Section does not currently reflect this progress.
- Section 2 contains 16 total sub questions, with 14 of 16 answered. The Parent Section likewise does not reflect this progress.
- Project Managers must expand Parent Sections and inspect the individual Sub-Sections to determine overall completion.
- This becomes increasingly time consuming and inefficient for large DDQs and RFPs containing hundreds or thousands of Sections and Sub-Sections.
Proposed Enhancement
- Aggregate all associated sub-questions beneath each Parent Section and display their combined progress at the Parent Section level.
- In the Parent Section’s “Answered” column, display the number of answered questions compared with the total number of associated questions.
- In the Parent Section’s “Questions Reviewed” column, display the number of reviewed questions compared with the same total number of associated questions.
- For example:
- For Section 1, the Parent Section should display 4/6 in “Answered” and 3/6 in “Questions Reviewed.”
- For Section 2, the Parent Section should display 14/16 in “Answered” and 6/16 in “Questions Reviewed.”
- The existing visual progress indicators should reflect these aggregated values so users can assess completion directly from the Parent Section without expanding it.
- Parent Section totals should dynamically update as associated sub-questions are answered or reviewed.
Expected Impact
- Provides Proposal Managers and Project Managers with immediate visibility into overall completion at the Parent Section level.
- Eliminates the need to repeatedly expand Parent Sections and manually assess progress across individual Sub Sections.
- Significantly improves efficiency when managing large and complex RFPs and DDQs containing hundreds or thousands of Sections and Sub-Sections.
- Enables users to quickly identify areas where answering or reviewing work remains outstanding.
- Provides a scalable progress tracking experience that improves project oversight and visibility into work performed to date.
