Current behavior
When assigning a guest user (or author/reviewer) to a section, users can enter text in the Message Guests field and enable "Track as section comments". However, if "Queue & Notify Later" is also turned on, the message text is silently dropped – it does not appear in the assignment notification email, nor is it visible to the guest in the web portal.
Requested enhancement
When "Queue & Notify Later" is enabled during a guest/author/reviewer assignment, the Message Guests/Authors/Reviewers field should be hidden or disabled, with a clear tooltip or inline note explaining that custom messages are not supported when notifications are queued for later delivery.
Why this matters
Users currently have no indication that their message will be discarded. This creates confusion and a poor experience – the user believes they have communicated important context to the assignee, but the assignee receives nothing. The fix is a simple UX improvement that prevents silent data loss and sets clear expectations.
Steps to reproduce the current behavior
- In a Description field (not a Q&A), assign a Guest User.
- In the Message Guests field, enter text.
- Enable "Track as section comments".
- Enable "Queue & Notify Later" and send.
- The guest receives the assignment email – the message text is absent.
- The guest opens the section in the web portal – no comment bubble or message text is visible anywhere.
