Overview
Customers are facing limitations with tag management when importing Excel files into the Content Library, particularly around handling non-predefined tags and maintaining tag hierarchies.
Current Behavior
- If tags are predefined in Organization Settings, they are correctly captured and applied during import.
- If tags are not predefined:
- Tags are not properly captured during import.
- The system creates separate parent-level tags, instead of maintaining the intended parent–child hierarchy.
- When tags are created manually in the Content Library:
- Only parent-level tags are created.
- Even when hierarchy is defined, the parent–child relationship is not preserved, resulting in disconnected tags.
Problem Statement
The current behavior leads to:
- Loss of intended tag hierarchy
- Increased manual effort to recreate structure
- Inconsistent tagging across the Content Library
- Poor tag governance and usability
Enhancement Request
Enhance the Excel import functionality to:
- Auto-create tags during import
- Detect and create tags that do not already exist in Organization Settings
- Support hierarchical tag structures
- Accurately interpret and maintain parent–child relationships from the Excel file
- Preserve tag relationships end-to-end
- Ensure hierarchy is reflected consistently in both:
- Content Library
- Organization Settings
Expected Outcome / Value
- Improved tag governance and structure
- Significant reduction in manual configuration effort
- Consistent and scalable tagging framework
- Better content discoverability and usability
Additional Context
This request originates from customer feedback highlighting inefficiencies in managing large-scale content imports with structured tagging requirements.
