I'm submitting this enhancement request on behalf of our strategic clients, Deloitte.
Request:
Enable Admins to modify existing Organization Settings Content Library Custom Field values without the system treating the update as a new value and removing the original metadata assignments from existing content.
Current Limitations:
Currently, if a Custom Field value in the Content Library needs to be updated (e.g., a product name change or typo correction), there is no way to modify it without data loss. The system treats any change to an existing value as the creation of a new value and removes all prior metadata assignments.
Admins are forced to:
- Create a new value.
- Filter for all content where the original value was assigned.
- Bulk apply the new value.
- Delete the original value in Org Settings.
This process is time-consuming, error-prone, and inefficient.
Proposed Solution:
Allow Admins to rename existing Custom Field valued, similar to how Content Library Tags can be renamed, without removing or altering any existing metadata assignments.
Benefits:
- Efficiency: Significantly reduces the steps required to update Custom Field values when minor edits are needed.
- Improved User Experience: Prevents accidental metadata loss during value updates.
- Scalability: Supports evolving organizational needs (e.g., rebrands, product renaming, acronym changes).
We believe this enhancement will directly improve user satisfaction, reduce administrative overhead, and prevent data loss. Thank you for your consideration!
