We have got this request from a few customers with regard to automatically identifying Duplicate Q&A records (similar to the Doc Library) when the same is being imported into the AL.
Illustrating the current scenario;
- Initially import Q&A into the AL from the required doc/docs.
- After a certain time period, there are a few changes in the Q&A so they re-upload the doc/docs into the AL.
- All the Q&A from the updated doc/docs get imported as duplicate records into the AL.
- Run the Duplicate Reports to remove/modify the duplicates from the AL one at a time.
If there are a few duplicates it isn't a problem but when there are 100's of duplicates it becomes a little difficult to manage them. While there is a workaround for the same it would be good if while importing duplicate Q&A into the AL the following options were available as an additional step;
- Overwrite/Merge the duplicates (if either the Q or A is different) with additional settings to review and add them, similar to duplicate reports
- Update only the 'Updated date' flag/metadata for the exactly (both Q&A) matching duplicate records & ignore the duplicates from being re-imported as separate records
- Ignore the exactly (both Q&A) matching duplicates altogether (If the date flag/metadata doesn't have to be updated)
