Team, we could enhance our custom field and merge tag functionality by bringing in conditional as well as nesting logic.
An good e.g. to illustrate the same would be as follows;
- A customer who needs to associate an Account Manager (AM) to a project would do the following;
** Store the AM details as 'content merge tags', e.g. [mray] - Matt Ray/AM/mray@abc/123
** Create an AM custom field (assume a Dropdown) e.g. [am] where the values point to the content merge tags e.g. Matt Ray -> [mray]
** During Project Creation, when the user expands AM field and chooses Matt Ray, the AM's details are populated within the response field.
- A customer who needs to associate an AM automatically based on the size of the opp. would do the following;
** AM custom field [am] is inserted within the response field.
** If Opp. Size field is >1m$, then populate [mray] details into the [am] merge tag.
