I'm raising this request on behalf of our client "Genedata AG"
Request:
Support native Excel checkbox controls during import, answering, and export workflows.
Current Limitation:
Responsive currently does not support Excel checkbox form controls. When users map checkbox-based answer fields, the platform can only populate text values (e.g., X, TRUE, ✓) into cells rather than interacting with the underlying checkbox control. As a result, Excel formulas, conditional logic, scoring mechanisms, and dependent calculations that rely on the checkbox's Boolean state do not function correctly after export.
Additionally, answer options associated with checkbox controls require manual configuration during import, making the process inefficient for complex questionnaires.
Proposed Solution:
Enhance the Excel import/export engine to:
- Detect and preserve native Excel checkbox form controls.
- Allow answer mappings to interact directly with checkbox states (checked/unchecked) rather than inserting text values.
- Maintain relationships between answer options and associated checkbox controls during import.
- Support export behavior that updates the underlying Boolean value of the checkbox control, ensuring customer formulas, scoring logic, and conditional formatting continue to function as intended.
- Provide automated mapping capabilities for answer choices linked to checkbox controls to reduce manual configuration effort.
Benefits to Genedata:
- Preserves customer-provided Excel logic, scoring, and compliance workflows without requiring manual rework.
- Enables support for complex questionnaire formats commonly used in regulated industries.
- Reduces manual effort during project setup and answer configuration.
- Improves export accuracy and customer satisfaction by maintaining document fidelity.
- Expands Responsive's compatibility with advanced Excel-based RFPs, security assessments, and qualification questionnaires frequently used by Genedata and its customers.
