While marking empty spaces by dragging is allowed, directly marking answers in empty spaces is not supported. This is the current expected behavior.
But client wants direct marking of empty spaces too.

I must say I’m surprised that this is expected behavior – I believe this must have changed as I don’t recall running into this before. While I can imagine not facilitating actual empty space (only) to be marked as an answer (i.e., a blank answer/response), empty space within a response should be just that, included as part of a response – after all, we’re talking about blank lines between paragraphs, nothing overly daunting.
