Purpose:
To enhance task visibility, clarity, and tracking accuracy by updating the task description field to automatically display both the Start Date and End Date of each task.
This improvement ensures that all task assignees and reviewers can easily understand the task duration and timeline without navigating to additional sections or menus.
Background and Current Limitation:
- Currently, task descriptions do not display date-related information such as when a task starts or ends.
- Users must refer to other views or manually check task details to determine timelines, which can lead to confusion or missed deadlines.
- For projects with multiple overlapping tasks, this lack of visibility can make it difficult to prioritize effectively or track progress.
Proposed Enhancement:
Enhance the Task Description field to automatically include:
- Start Date – indicating when the task becomes active or available to the assignee.
- End Date – showing the task’s due date or completion deadline.
- Optionally, display this as a formatted line within the description (e.g., Start Date: [DD/MM/YYYY], End Date: [DD/MM/YYYY]).
This update would apply across all task views (e.g., in Project Tasks, Section Tasks, and My Tasks).
Expected Outcomes:
- Improved Clarity: Ensure all users can easily see task timelines directly within the description.
- Better Tracking: Help users and managers monitor task progress relative to defined start and end dates.
- Reduced Confusion: Minimize the need to switch views or cross-check other fields for task timing.
- Increased Accountability: Provide clear visibility into when tasks begin and end, supporting on-time delivery.
- Enhanced User Experience: Create a more intuitive and informative task interface for all contributors.
