PROD-I-156 Clone Archived Projects w/o Unarchiving

To clone an archived project, a user needs to unarchive the project first. The steps are cumbersome:

User goes to Archived Projects Dashboard to find Archived Project
User unarchives the Project
User waits while system unarchives the project and shows up on the Current Projects Dashboard
If necessary, User gives Primary Contact of Archived Project a heads up that they will receive a notification of unarchiving and to ignore/delete notice
User clones Project
User re-archives original Project

Cloning Projects is an incredibly useful tool for companies that need to respond to the same RFx requests on a regular basis where exact previous answers are crucial (e.g., quarterly health insurance broker RFIs). The way it currently is just feels cumbersome to the user and the pause while waiting for the Project to unarchive is just long enough for the user to start another task, get distracted, and risks leaving the original Project unarchived.

It would be great to add cloning to the archived projects 3-dot menu, as it seems like duplicating archived projects is now an option.

Thanks for your Idea. Can we connect on this to get a clear understanding of the problem they are facing. I do understand that they would like to clone the project in order to respond to the same RFX . I would like to know, whether they need same Q&A pairs within the projects and also the project metadata of the archived projects?

Discussed with Kelly about project templates and its potential use-cases. The customer's use-case will be solved by project templates. Will keep clone archive project feature on hold.

Fortrea is requesting this. they frequently have a "version 2" of a proposal that they create by cloning the original project and then modifying. Current behavior requires fully un-archiving a project before you are allowed to clone, and then it requires further steps to re-archive the original project. it would save their users time and make their workflow more efficient if they could clone an archived project.

Hi Team - My customer Stepstone is also requesting the ability to clone archived projects.

@manjula - Addressing the question, I don't see project template as workaround or alternative option as I see the primary value of project templates as enabling more repeated usage of that matching project structure, saving time on import/configuration and applying previous answers.

I think this is about creating a singular clone for more standalone events that arise rather than something that is necessarily repeated multiple times. In my case, the customer is focused on more efficient cloning as a whole rather than doing the sequence Nicole described.

You'd still need to know before hand to create the project template and if you did this proactively 'just in case' then you would also end up carrying a significant number of project templates that may not be needed.

@Khalees V As this is not RRT candidate, Please plan accordingly to be picked by the product team. Also another customer Stepstone is asking for this feature. I have changed the status to Future consideration
