Requested by ENT customer: Genetec
Problem Statement:
The customer identified a critical functional gap in Proposal Builder that is currently preventing purchase and broader adoption. Proposal Builder today enforces a rigid structure that relies exclusively on Section Templates and does not allow users to insert individual Q+A pairs between sections. This limitation forces users to export proposals to Word and manually modify them, breaking the “build once, export final” workflow they expect.
Customer Context & Use Case:
The customer builds proposals that combine static, industry-based narrative sections with highly variable, case-specific content that differs from proposal to proposal. While Section Templates work well for standardized narratives, users frequently need to insert ad-hoc Q+A pairs in between sections when content does not belong in an existing template. Because Proposal Builder does not support this, users must rely on external editing as a workaround, significantly reducing perceived value and usability .
Current Limitation:
Proposal Builder only supports assembling proposals using predefined Section Templates and does not allow free placement of individual Q+A pairs throughout the document. There is no mechanism to insert or interleave content library Q+A pairs between sections in a flexible, user-driven manner.
Requested Enhancement:
Enable Proposal Builder to support inserting individual Q+A pairs anywhere within a proposal, including between Section Templates. This would allow users to dynamically assemble proposals that mix structured templates with ad-hoc, case-specific content directly within the Proposal Builder interface.
Business Impact:
- This gap was explicitly cited as the primary blocker preventing purchase
- Forces users into manual post-export editing, reducing efficiency and product stickiness
- Limits Proposal Builder’s viability for teams with variable, narrative-driven proposal workflows
- Aligns Proposal Builder more closely with legacy Chorus-style workflows the customer is actively trying to recreate
Desired Outcome:
Users can fully assemble and finalize proposals inside Proposal Builder without exporting to Word for manual edits, increasing adoption, perceived value, and likelihood of purchase.
