We have an request from the client Angelika Joachimowicz - Genetec. When a value in the custom field (mostly dropdown) is re-named, its association with projects is removed. Client does not want the association be removed or replaced with the new values. The old values should stay as it is and the new values to be picked up going forward.
We suggested a workaround to: Add a new value instead of renaming the existing value. Manually change the old value to new value in Project, however client feedback was as follows: "This is not a proper workaround. For example, if the product Clearance, needs to be changed to Clearance Extra – we don’t want users selecting the wrong one by having both options existing just so that historical data is maintained. This is troubling that this was not considered in your system."
