Client Instructure is requesting the addition of Emoji reactions to Comments. This would allow the users to acknowledge a comment without replying and sending another notification email.
@Nicole Agreed. Currently user has to type for acknowledgements which is time-consuming compared with acknowledging with emoji's. We will let you know when we add to our roadmap.
