@Brittany Bukala asked a great question during the chat asking if changes at the project level with override setting at the organization level.

We can confirm changes to Project Settings is specific to the Project and will not impact or override the settings at organization level.

@Helene Halliday As a follow-up to the question asked by @Brittany Bukala, if Project Notification under Project Settings is enabled, will the users still only get the notifications that are enabled in org settings email preferences (or their own account email preferences if they changed them from the org settings)? Then, if the Project Notification under Project Settings is disabled, they won't get any notifications for that project?

Is the purpose of the Project Notification under Project Settings mostly meant to be a way to turn off all notifications in situations, such as a test project, where you might not want team members getting the notifications?

I want to make sure I'm understanding this Project Notification setting correctly as we've spent time fine tuning the org settings email preferences to make sure our users are only getting the notifications we absolutely need them to get and not a bunch of extra. It looks like the Project Notification under Project Settings is enabled by default. I want to make sure that isn't causing additional notifications to go out beyond what we've got set in the org settings or that individual users may have turned on themselves under their account.

I found this thread because I'm in a similar situation. Currently I have rather specific email preferences set in Org settings. That said, I know that turning of Project Notifications will eliminate ALL notifications - daily tasks, comments, etc. It's an all or nothing.

What I'm looking for is a way to specify notifications at the Project level, not just the Org Settings, and not an "all or nothing" option. I have individuals that need to get alerts one day and then have those alerts turned off for a specific project whilst still able to get notifications from other projects.

One of the biggest issues I'm finding is that if a new reviewer or author is added to a question after review, the original authors/reviewers are receiving new Daily Task emails when they have no tasks. It's becoming a real problem.

Hey @Patrick Lyddy thank you for this question! I think what might make sense for your use case is to remove users from a Project once you no longer want them to receive any sort of notification for the Project. The exception would be if the user was tagged in a comment or re-added to another section, they would then be opted in to notification again.

I'd also suggest individual users take a look at their individual notification settings under "My Account" and update their preferences there.
