Does anyone use Business Units? How has this enabled a personalised experienced?

Hello Responsive Community,

We currently have several collections globally to cater for each country within Responsive. As each country is utilising the tool slightly differently, we are looking to split out into Business Units.

Has anyone else gone through this process? Are there any considerations we should bear in mind?

Was the BU easy to set up? Is there downtime associated?

We are particularly interested in having Custom Roles for each BU, along with separate TAGs etc.,

Id be grateful to hear from anyone on their experiences on this topic!

Hey @Amy Coleman - I'd love to hear how some other client's experiences are, but I can give you a few bits of insight in the meantime!

In terms of setting up a BU, it takes around 30 minutes.
A main benefit of BU's is that it can allow you to separate Projects, which can be a benefit depending on your organization OR a hinderance.
BU's can have separate SSOs.

We have a massive content of 26k QAs which we categorized by BUs, where each BU has 1 or more products.

We use Collections for BU and tags for the Product. Users are granted access per Collection (BU). We also use custom roles to limit users' ability to modify content and projects.

I would say start building your content per BU this is more manageable especially if there are several users involved.

Can I have a different set of tags and custom fields for each business unit or are these elements shared across BUs? In other words, if I use one set of tags for BU1, are those tags visible to BU2? Same with custom fields. Thank you!

We just started Business Units to specifically separate Projects by Teams. We are running into some issues as we do not want to have a separate response library. You can share response library's but you have to grant access to both BUs for SMEs, but can't grant access by Teams (we use Teams a lot in Responsive). Another challenge is if a project is completed in on BU and responses are sent to library, it is sent to that BUs library. Therefor having a universal library is not happening. We're new to this, so there may be some solutions to this that we aren't aware of.

How do other companies separate the work of different proposal teams, but not the content?
