Hi, many of my customers are hitting roadblocks when trying to edit content that is currently in review. I know cancel review was created to alleviate this, however, it really does not address the problem as there are many scenarios where the content should stay in review but requires an update not tied to the review.
For example, the company rebrands - they still need to content owners to review for accuracy, but the content manager needs to quickly update ALL content to reflect the new branding. Currently, they have to find the content locked in review, cancel the review, make the update, find the content again, and reset the review. This is cumbersome and feels like an unnecessarily complicated step. There are many scenarios where customers wish to update the record but leave it in review (see below for more examples from Evernorth).
This has been requested by many customers including Evernorth and most recently Nuveen.
Additional details from Evernorth: I also wanted to provide additional reasoning as to why it is so important:
- SMEs are not responsive and do not complete their reviews in a timely manner, but the content still needs to ‘be reviewed’
- In the meantime, other updates need to be made which aren’t impacted by a ‘SME review’, such as:
- Change in company name
- Change in # of company locations
- Change in product name
- Change in statistics identified within the asset
- Change in metadata (e.g. updated SME/owner, updated moderator). An updated SME is particularly important for the end-user viewing the asset to see in a proposal project or the content library; the proposal manager needs to be able to see the MOST CURRENT ACCURATE SME, which is not possible when this information is pending/held up due to a pending content review because the SME has not been reviewing their content on a timely basis (which is an issue, but needs to be managed separately by content managers, and we need to be able to ensure the other updates that ARE within our control are updated and viewable immediately, e.g. SME change, change in company/product name, etc.).
- The list of possible examples is endless as noted above; however, this is of particular importance to us as Evernorth makes major branding changes over the next 18 months. It is vital that we be able to modify the content to match the branding rollout without onerous steps to move it in/out of review. More broadly, it is crucial that proposal managers have access to the most current available information regardless of the status of the formal SME review.
