When you're setting up a Q/A pair in the content library, does anyone use "moderators?"

Right now we have owners with review cycles set, but does anyone else also use moderators? Trying to understand it. We have it set right now that the admins review anything being modified so not sure if there's a real need to also utilize moderators.

@Sheena Sanna I always think of moderation as the moat around a castle, and your moderators are the guards who decide whether or not to let the drawbridge down. Really, it's just an extra step of security that helps you better control what content makes it's way in to your library.

Depending on your internal processes and which teams it may make sense to enable it. But if you feel like your castle is secure enough then it's certainly not necessary.

We have started to enable moderation. We treat content owners with review cycles as controlling the content of the messaging. While we train and encourage good Q&A pair hygiene with content owners, the Moderators are ultimately responsible for the final product. For example, in addition to double-checking spelling, grammar, and style, they also ensure that the appropriate tags and other fields are properly utilized. If it’s a new Q&A pair, they also double-check to make sure it isn’t a duplicate or something that can be merged into an existing item; or that it’s content that’s really not going to be frequently used or helpful, and thus is just going to clutter. We have a lot of different people/teams owning content, so the moderators (who are part of the team that consumes the content) are a unifying element.

We do! Very similar to what Alec is detailing above - we have dedicated content teams that sort of...curate within moderation, but it is a beast at times. We're doing a big old purge of what's been sitting there right now. But I do think it's a valuable role to have, otherwise it's a free for all in the library if you have a lot of cooks in the kitchen!
