Is there a way to maintain old users in the system so they stay as contacts within a project. For example, we've had some proposal writers leave Prime. We deactivate them and when I make changes in the "About" section of an archived bid, their name drops. I'd like to be able to have historical information about the bid, even if the users are no longer at Prime.
We use the project list to report out, and when those writers drop, we don't have a clear view of who led bids year over year. This is a similar issue we have for the sales/CE lead custom field we created. We can't track which sales exec was assigned to a bid year over year or how many, etc.
Note:
Currently, If user X is a PPC and the project is archived, even if the X is deactivated, the custom report displays the deactivated user name in PPC. Nevertheless, if you unarchived and added a new PPC, the report will fetch only the new PPC and not the previous user.

We have a JIRA story related to it, to maintain the history of deactive PPC users to show in the report. I will add that JIRA in this idea, for your reference. Kindly go through and let me know if your use case is different.
