I know the new proposal builder is not yet released for primetime, but I've been exploring it a little this week and have a few comments.
The project form is overwhelming in terms of the selections you are seemingly being asked to make:

Can we provide a 'preferences' capability in the Org Settings-->Proposals to control what groups/fields are required?
In the current SFDC incarnation, the above is strictly controlled through the way the UI was designed. You have to click an expand link to see all the detail

Taking points 1 and 2 together, the general request is to make this configurable by Proposal Builder project type so you only present the appropriate options when creating the project. To that end:
Proposal Group should be a PRIMARY selection (and I still urge us to change the nomenclature to Document Type)
Catalogs should be automatically expanded and appear straight after Proposal Group
Sections Templates, Response Templates and Other headings (if configured) should probably be collapsed unless there are mandatory fields
My prior suggestions still stand:
Users need the ability to edit catalog sourced content after the project has built to permit refinement and collaboration. Today catalog content isn't 'resolved' until the document is generated. This is too late.
Catalog selection needs to be streamlined - if there are lots of entries, it's not easy to pick. They need to be grouped by catalog structure.
